Media Release:

The unaccountable Mr Mark

Minister of Defence Ron Mark is as evasive as a slippery eel.

The Palestine Solidarity Network Aotearoa has been trying to get a response from him to an email sent on 22 May. Mark is refusing to respond.

Numerous emails and calls to his office have been ignored.

Could it be because we called him out for his nauseating performance meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu? This is the video of their meeting.

Mark was overwhelmed and gushed his delight to meet the self-declared racist who is on record as saying.

“The way to deal with Palestinians is to beat them up. Not once but repeatedly, beat them up so it hurts so badly, until its unbearable” Benjamin Netanyahu 2001.

Would Mark have met with any other leader who said “The way to deal with Jews is to beat them up. Not once but repeatedly, beat them up so it hurts so badly, until its unbearable”?

No. Mark would have rightly refused. So why did he meet Netanyahu? Why are Palestinians somehow lesser human beings in Ron Mark’s eyes?

Or could Ron Mark be refusing to reply because he is embarrassed about his department’s multi-million dollar decision to purchase military equipment from Israel?

New Zealand’s defence policy has taken a big stride to the right with New Zealand First controlling Foreign Affairs and Defence.

It’s time for some serious questions for the unaccountable Mr Mark.
