We shall always do our best to verify the accuracy of all items in these IOP newsletters/reports wherever possible [e.g. we often suspect that names of people and places that we see in the PMG sitreps could be typos; also the translation into English seems rather odd ~ but since we, sadly, do not speak Arabic, we have no alternative but to copy and paste these names from the PMG sitreps!] – please forgive us for any errors or omissions – Leslie and Marian.

IMET2000 Summer Campaign for Child Mental Health in Jenin
after recent Israeli assault on the Jenin Refugee Camp
Need for funding of new Child Mental Health Centre outside Jenin City serving the whole region.
Israeli soldiers attacked one Children’s Centre in the Jenin Refugee Camp last week and trashed it for the second time in 2023. This was an educational and play Centre not much concerned with mental health and certainly not providing a clinical service. This is all part of the Israeli intention to make life impossible in the camp and destroy all parts of infrastructure and culture. Even before the latest savage Israeli attack on the Camp, we were concentrating much of our IMET2000 effort on the Jenin area as it is poorly served in many aspects of healthcare. We have decided in IMET2000 to build a brand- new Centre in a relatively safe spot in the Jenin area outside the camp, indeed outside the City. This is the reason for this urgent request for help badged as the IMET2000 Jenin Campaign.
All our work in the Jenin region is organised on the spot by our CEO, Dr Malik Zaben, who is Dean of the Arab-American University of Palestine (AAUP) School of Medicine as well as running the Neurosurgery Service. We have included as attachments, examples of what we do to treat children with repetitive traumatic stress disorder (RTSD) and a complete range of mental health disorders, including autism, Downs Syndrome, cerebral palsy, depression and anxiety throughout Gaza and the West Bank. In fact, we have been heavily involved in child mental health in the Middle East ever since 2004. Any financial support you can award us however small will be greatly appreciated and donated via our website donation instructions (www.imet2000.org).
The JustGiving link is via https://www.justgiving.com/imet2000 and is simple.
The total needed in 2023-2024 is estimated at £40,000. We run the charity on a shoestring but with high impact as we are very experienced in the Middle East and we work pro-bono.
Thank you and all best wishes,
Colin,
